AWS Container Services enable you to build infrastructure that is secure, performant, resilient, and efficient for your applications. AWS provides capabilities to automate manual security tasks and shift your focus to scaling and innovating your business. Security in a containerized environment means understanding the shared responsibility model and how to leverage the different AWS tools and services to enforce your application's required security posture. In this session you'll learn best practices for securing applications deployed to AWS Container Services.
Level: 200-300
To paraphrase the famous quote by Peter Drucker — you cannot improve what you do not 'observe'. “Observability” describes how well you can understand what is happening in a system, often by instrumenting it to collect metrics, logs, or traces. Observability solutions allow you to collect and analyze data from applications and infrastructure. Providing a better understanding of their internal states to ensure application availability, optimize cost, resource utilization, and improve performance for the end-user experience. In this session you'll learn about best practices for Observing applications deployed to AWS Container Services.
Level 200 - 300
Cost optimization is in everyone’s mind. There are multiple factors for your high Kubernetes bill beyond just compute cost. In this session learn about those factors such as autoscaling parameters, networking cost (this one creeps up on your bill), even security posture and more. Also learn how you can use open source tools to optimize these costs and make your Kubernetes cluster recession proof!
Level 200 - 300
Today, 80% of development time is frequently spent in operations and maintenance. Serverless technologies allow you to focus on business logic with the highest impact for your customers, and reduce the volume of undifferentiated heavy-lifting required for infrastructure management. This session focuses on key benefits of a serverless system, as well as its common elements, such as API Gateway, Compute, Observability, and Monitoring. Those are the elements you will be using a lot in your designs and architecture. We will also review the top things serverless architects should know, and a Serverless Patterns collection as a reference resource.
Level: 100-200
We see many customers choosing to build serverless applications leveraging event-driven architectures. With event-driven architecture you reduce the idle time spent in various components of your environment by having them react to events emitted by other components. This pattern helps to decouple your applications, improving the application scalability and resilience. It enables development teams to operate more independently and release new features faster. In this session you'll learn common patterns of event-driven design and how to choose the right AWS service for the job. We'll also run a live interactive demo of a fully event-driven retail system.
Level: 100-200
AWS Serverless technologies allow you to run code without the need to manage servers. They provide you with automatic scaling, as well as built-in high availability and security allowing you to focus on delivering business value. In this session you'll learn about strategies and tools at your disposal to ensure your applications are cost efficient and highly performant. We will provide insights into tuning various layers of your applications as well as best practices and recommendations based on what we see in the field. We'll cover techniques to monitor performance and various tools AWS provides to make this simple for you.
Level: 200-300
Data processing is fundamental to organizations to meet business goals and unlock new values such as operational efficiency, process optimization. Event driven data processing is gaining popularity as it opens up the opportunity to gain insights quicker and take time-critical decision. When building data processing solutions, app developers face not only the challenges inherent to data such as data sanity, integration, security and governance but also skill gap with technology and tooling. Serverless services help developers build and deploy solutions using their familiar programming language without worrying about servers. The session introduce you to event driven distributed data processing using Step Functions and Lambda, demonstrates the speed and agility of processing gigabytes of data through a sample application and share use cases, best practices and resources to accelerate your data processing journey.
Level: 200
Amazon ECS and AWS Fargate are both fully managed services which enable customers to accelerate their software development lifecycle without the operational overhead of managing any infrastructure. AWS App Runner is a managed service that provides a fast, simple, and cost-effective way to deploy scalable and secure containerized applications without needing any containers expertise. ECS, Fargate and App Runner provide a pathway to AWS customers to modernize their applications by adopting a serverless-first strategy. In this session, we will look at how to use these services to build end-to-end automation including CI/CD, manage containers lifecycle and ensure observability and security across all stages.
